2023 was the season the the Tigers managed to go one better and become League Champions after coming so close many times before.
The Facennas have made Glasgow a club to envy since becoming owners, with huge investments made in their stadium and amendments to their track that have seen it become one of the best in British Speedway.
Their line up for 2024 sees a lot of change, with fans favourites Ben Basso, Tom Brennan and Vadim Taraseko all departing from the team.
Chris Harris returns at number 1 on the back of a hugely successful campaign for both him and the club, and there is nobody better to lead the Tigers bid to retain their league title.
Glasgow have brought in Brits Steve Worrall and Leon Flint and as their second and third heat leaders for 2024 . Fast trapper Worrall is a big performer at this level - he is a great coup for the Tigers and gives the Tigers one of the strongest top 2 in league.
Flint may have been one of the biggest surprise signings after spending his career to date with Berwick, but a move away from his home club could help the youngster to take the next step in his promising career and establish himself as a top performer at this level. He is very capable of adding significantly to his starting average and could prove to be a very astute signing.
The Tigers' top 5 is completed by Paul Starke and young Aussie James Pearson. Starke's career seems to have regressed over the last 2 seasons, but he is a rider that is way much more capable than his starting overage of just over 4 points. If he can get back anywhere near to his form of the past, he will be the rider that turns the Tigers into silverware contenders again.
Pearson is another rider that has the potential to improve his starting average significantly in 2024. The youngster has had a slow start to his career in the UK, but he looks very accomplished on a speedway bike and his performances for Plymouth at the back end of 2023 suggest he could be a rider who is ready to take off at Championship level.
The 2024 Tigers side is completed by fans favourite Lee Complin and young star Ace Pijper. Complin was hugely influential in the Tigers success in 2023 and his experience will be valuable in a league which will see many teams field one or two riders in their first year of Championship racing at reserve. Pijper will also benefit from a year's experience at this level and should form a capable reserve partnership alongside Complin.
BSN Verdict:
The Tigers have a team that is capable of challenging for honours again in 2024, but to repeat their success of 2023 they will need Paul Starke to recapture some of his past form and their 2 youngsters to continue their progress at this level.
