CHARLES WRIGHT reckons his blistering form is down to son Oskar’s SMILES!

The Stockport ace has been flying this season for Redcar including a paid maximum in their win at Edinburgh last Friday.

Former British Champ Wrighty is convinced that his new baby boy with partner Leanne has made the big difference to his racing.

He said: “Everything has come good for me. My shoulder, life, my son Oskar.

“Having a baby boy has changed so much. He’s just laughing and happy.

“You come home and he’s smiling, I guess he gives you perspective in life and what’s important.

“Sometimes speedway can get on top of you, overthink too much. It’s good to clear your mind and get away from it.

“I’m also happy in general with my engines. I’ve swapped tuners and figured a lot of stuff out. I’m a lot more positive and happy with what is underneath me.”

The Bears go to defending double champs Poole in the first leg of their BSN Series semi-final tonight (Wednesday).

But the Teesside outfit will still be without Erik Riss who remains on the sidelines due to illness, and they will operate rider replacement at No.1.something special.”

Redcar boss Gavin Parr said: “Danny and Charles are arguably in the form of their lives at the moment so that will help, but we are really disappointed that we have to use r/r at No.1 for Erik, but we do have a guest lined up for the return on Saturday.

“As Erik’s absence has went on and on, I had it in the back of my mind that we would be unable to secure a guest at some point; unfortunately for us it has come at the worst possible time with our biggest meeting of the season so far.

“Our German star was getting better but in the days after his lumbar puncture his brain fog has returned, and we are no closer to knowing when he will return.”

The Pirates also have r/r in force for Anders Rowe, who is on international duty with Great Britain ahead of Thursday’s FIME European Under-23 Team semi-final in Germany.

Poole promoter Dan Ford said: “I like their team. It’s a good team. Obviously they have an incredibly strong top three which has been the kind of approach we have gone for in the past couple of seasons, but we have gone slightly different this year.

“I’m looking forward to this meeting. I think it is going to be our biggest test so far this season."
