EDINBURGH’S super Swede Victor Palovaara believes his side “are improving”.

The Stellar Monarchs grabbed a vital 49-41 win over rivals Glasgow in the MAXiCab KO Cup quarter-final first leg at Armadale on Friday night.

Palovaara racked up a whopping 20-points from reserve and has now scored an incredible 78 in his last four home meetings.

He admitted: “We are improving, we are getting there. Everyone is coming up with some good heats.

“Glasgow are a strong team especially when the track is a bit grippier as it was tonight so this is a good result.

“We had a good win at Glasgow before so I am confident we can go there and get a good result. I’m sure we can do that again.

“With Michael (Palm Toft) coming in I might not get seven rides next week, maybe just four plus heat 15 if I am riding well enough, but the important thing is that the team does well.

“Ideally I would only have to do my four heats. It’s good that I can help with 20 points today. I wish this was the time I got a 21-point maximum but it wasn’t to be. I have to work harder for next week.”
