GLASGOW boss Cami Brown says his team are in for a “tough test” against unbeaten Berwick.

The Allied Vehicles Tigers take on the Bandits in a crucial BSN Series clash at Ashfield Stadium tonight (Friday), live on BSN.

While Glasgow have only completed one meeting, Berwick have reeled off three successive wins under new boss Stewart Dickson.

Brown knows his team need to be sharp, admitting: “Overall it’s been an eventful start to the campaign for the right and wrong reasons.

“The truth is that we need to get meetings under our belt, some of the boys need races to get sharper.

"It’s frustrating that Leon (Flint) misses tonight while on Great Britain duty. He definitely needs to get dialled in.

“Paul (Starke) readily admits that he still feels a bit rusty while Ace (Pijper) has also not had enough laps yet this season.

“I feel all the team needs to get a couple of strong home wins in the bag to get the confidence up.

“Stewart Dickson knows Ashfield very well and he has assembled a very solid team for 2024. At this moment they are unbeaten this season and will arrive at Ashfield with lots of belief. That means we are in for another very tough test.”

Berwick have often struggled on the road in recent years while the 2023 season saw them win only four matches at Shielfield Park and five altogether – a total they are on the brink of matching less than a month into Dickson’s reign as team manager.

Pleased as he is with the start, the Scot is demanding more from his side, especially when it comes to scoring consistency.

He said: “I’ve looked at performances in recent years and they have been ordinary to say the least, especially away from home. I want that to change in 2024.

“We want to be good business both at Shielfield and away from home, producing performances which encourage our fans to travel with us in the knowledge that they will see a team focussed on the job in hand.

“Glasgow and Edinburgh are good business for Berwick Speedway when they come to Shielfield Park. I want my team to be seen as good for other track’s business as well as our own.

“I don’t think that’s been the case in the past and we need to show that we are box office by our performances and the way we approach every meeting.”

Berwick travel to Ashfield looking for their first victory in Glasgow since 2014 and in search of the aggregate point which would put them on-course to qualify for the BSN Series knockout stages.

They have a maximum four points from their two home meetings and complete their fixtures in the section at Edinburgh a week on Friday.

He added: “It’s a big ask to go to the home of the champions but we have been asked questions in every meeting so far this season and found the right answers. That’s what we need to do again on Friday.”
