GLASGOW boss Cami Brown admitted his side “worked so hard” for the dramatic last-gasp win to reach the Grand Final.

The Allied Vehicles Tigers beat local rivals Edinburgh 53-37 in the Cab Direct Championship semi at Ashfield Stadium.

A last heat 5-1 from Chris Harris and Kyle Howarth meant they snatched the victory on aggregate by 91-89.

It had been a tough night until that point. Villads Nagel crashed out in Heat 1 and then had a bike failure leading Heat 8 which helped the Monarchs narrow the lead to just 25-23.

But the home side delivered a powerhouse finale in the last three heats.

Brown said: “I can’t speak highly enough of the boys. The atmosphere in the pits was electric, they worked so hard and never gave up.

“It was truly heart-stopping stuff because it looked like we were going to fall short.

“The incredible spirit of this team was just incredible to keep fighting until the end when all seemed lost.

“We managed to outscore Edinburgh by 10 points in the last three races to snatch it.

“It was a night where the pendulum swung one way and another. A crash and then bike failure for Villads Nagel and it seemed like it was going to be one of those nights.

“But somehow the boys kept going. Chris and Kyle then got the 5-1 in Heat 13 to keep the tie alive.

“Then Heat 14 was an unbelievable race for us. Leon Flint passed Michael Palm Toft but Max Perry’s third place was absolutely pivotal.

“That boy rode his heart out for us and he made all the difference with six points.

“It was a nightmare night for Villads and Freddy Hodder who blew two engines. He then had to borrow a bike all night.

“But then it came down to Heat 15 and Chris and Kyle did it again.

“Kyle has been sensational over the two legs with 13 at Edinburgh to keep us in the tie, then a paid maximum at home. He delivered big time.

“I’m just so pleased for the fans, just sensational scenes. A huge crowd and they went wild at the end.”
