GLASGOW skipper Tom Brennan says it’s now down to “serious business” against Oxford, as new star signing Vadim Tarasenko debuts for the Tigers.

The Allied Vehicles Tigers take on the Cheetahs in a huge Cab Direct Championship clash at Ashfield tonight, live on BSN.

Oxford need a win to overhaul Poole and finish top of the table and therefore gain the right to choose their Play-Off group opponents.

But Brennan is only focused on Glasgow delivering a statement win ahead of their title rivals.

He said: “Now it’s down to serious business. It’s September and that means every meeting is pretty much like a cup final.

“We now have two league meetings left tonight and then at Redcar on Sunday before the Play-Offs.

“Thanks to Chris Harris and Ben Basso the club is on a real high after they won the Pairs at Oxford. A huge well done to them for that achievement. It was so cool to watch them bring it home.

“We also have the added boost of the amazing signing of Vadim Tarasenko. So this is definitely going to be an interesting night especially as we are up against Oxford, one of the strongest sides in the Cab Direct Championship.

“On paper we have a really exciting and strong team. The Play-Offs, as we all know, are a bit of a lottery. But firstly we want to win both our last two league meetings tonight and at Redcar.

“They are potentially two teams we will meet in the Play-Offs, so we need to make a big statement.”

The only team news is that Claus Vissing misses out with a knee injury sustained in Denmark on Wednesday night.

Oxford boss Peter Schroeck said: “We’ve overcome some huge challenges this season. But I’d say this is one of our biggest, and the boys are bang up for tackling it head on.

“Glasgow’s home record speaks for itself and they’ve got a strong team from top to bottom. They’ll enter the meeting full of confidence just like ourselves, so the ingredients make for what should be a fantastic meeting.

“Finishing the season top of the league would complete part of this club’s incredible story and its rise from the ashes.

“There is an advantage also as you get to pick your play-off opponents, but we fear no team and believe in our ability to match any opposing one to seven at this level.

“Before we can think about any of that, we have one final job to do and preparation has mirrored every other meeting we’ve started this year.”
