SCUNTHORPE boss Rob Godfrey is expecting a “cracker” season opener against Redcar.

The Scorpions and Bears kick off the Northern section of the BSN Series when they clash at the Eddie Wright Raceway tonight, live on BSN.

Kyle Howarth and Luke Harrison joined the Scorpions over the winter and make their debuts tonight, whilst Jonas Knudsen and Ben Trigger are additions to the Bears’ ranks.

Both sides were frustrated by Good Friday postponements and therefore this is their first team action of 2024.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “Any meeting between Scunthorpe and Redcar is always a cracker. Both clubs have a good racetrack and enjoy visiting each other.

“We’ve seen some classic meetings between the two clubs and looking at the sides assembled for 2024, that has every chance of being the case again.

“There’s only four qualifying meetings in the BSN Series and it’s essential to get off to a good start. The very minimum we need is a home win, while any advantage we can build up to help land the aggregate point is a huge bonus.

“Of course, Redcar will be keen to get off to a good start as well, so it has all the ingredients of a great meeting.”

SCUNTHORPE: Kyle Howarth, Connor Mountain, Simon Lambert, Michael Palm Toft, Jake Allen, Nathan Ablitt, Luke Harrison.

REDCAR: Danny King, Jason Edwards, Connor Bailey, Jonas Knudsen, Charles Wright, Jake Mulford, Ben Trigger.
