KING'S LYNN have moved quickly to bring Danish star Nicolai Klindt back for his third spell at the Adrian Flux Arena.

The 35-year-old was signed after Russian Vadim Tarasenko told the Norfolk management on Tuesday that he no longer wanted to race in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership.

Stars’ bosses quickly tied up a deal for Klindt, released by Oxford last week, but not before the 72-hour deadline which would have allowed him to race at Cowley on Thursday night.

Instead Klindt, who enjoyed a terrific run in Lynn colours in 2023, hitting double figures in a run of eight meetings out of ten last summer before suffering serious injury in a crash in Poland, will rejoin them when they host Birmingham on May 2. He also rode at the Adrian Flux Arena in 2013.

Lynn promoter Keith Chapman said: “I was very sorry to hear of Vadim’s decision. He has his own reasons and it’s a big shame but we had to move quickly to sign a replacement.

“We had confirmation from Vadim’s agent on Tuesday afternoon and I was straight on the phone to Nicolai to do a deal.

“It was definitely the right move for us to make. Nikolai knows the club well and I’m sure he’ll fit straight back in.

“He was having a few set-up issues at Oxford but he’s a quality rider. We know what he’s capable of, he can be a very high scorer in this league and he’s the best rider available to step in for us.”

The Stars are entitled to a facility for Tarasenko, who is withholding his services, at Oxford and also hope to include Benjamin Basso and Niels-Kristian Iversen who are expected to be fit after missing last week’s defeat at Sheffield after separate crashes in Denmark.
