THOMAS JORGENSEN has vowed that Berwick’s “spirit” will make them a tough side to beat.
The FTS Bandits take on Glasgow in a super-tough BSN Series opener at Shielfield Park tonight.
After their fixture was abandoned at Ashfield Stadium last night following heavy rain, Jorgensen believes they can be a force on home shale.
He said: “The plan is to keep my place at No.1. I’m not really thinking too much about the number, it’s more to win with the team.
“Being No.1 it’s about leading the team as well as the captain Leon Flint.
“On paper we have a good side. I’m just going to take one meeting at a time. Hopefully we can have a good start to the season at Berwick on Saturday, we need to focus on that.
“It’s a good spirit here, we are all mates. It’s a good atmosphere already. It looks like a promising season for us.”
Team boss Gary Flint believes it’s vital that the team get some competitive laps on their home track.
He said: “It’s frustrating that we’ve not had a home meeting yet. I think all the boys need to get some proper bike time at Shielfield. A confidence-boosting win is needed.
“Glasgow is possibly one of the hardest possible home meetings of the season, so we will need to be sharp right from the off.
“Their boys all know our track very well. But I’m confident that we have the strength in depth to get the result we need.
“Most of the riders have had meetings now, but it’s just at Shielfield I want them to get dialled in. Our biggest strength should be our home form, that’s the plan anyway.”
