BRITISH Speedway Network offers its condolences to family and friends of ex-Mildenhall promoter Simon Barton.
Simon, who died suddenly on Friday evening, bought a major shareholding in the Fen Tigers in December 2006 before selling the promotion to father and son duo Keith and Jonathan Chapman, in 2008.
Simon, who lived in Peterborough, was also a director of Bourn Hall Limited, the world’s first fertility clinic that helped tens of thousands of childless couples have a family.
His partner Vanessa announced the sad news on Simon’s Facebook account, writing: “It is with profound sadness that we inform you of the very sudden passing of my beloved Simon.
“We all know how loved he was and we will all miss him terribly. Thank you all in advance for your patience at this terrible time.
“We would be grateful for some privacy at this sad time. We will update everyone in due course with any funeral arrangements.”
