SCUNTHORPE boss Rob Godfrey admits it’s a “big setback” to lose Michael Palm Toft.
But the Scorpions still aim to go top of the Cab Direct Championship by securing a quickfire double over Berwick at the Eddie Wright Raceway tonight, live on BSN.
The home side operate rider replacement for the injured Palm Toft, whilst the Bandits have Jye Etheridge and Bastian Borke on the sidelines, with Dan Gilkes and Paul Starke coming in as guests.
Godfrey said: “We badly missed Michael at Oxford as he is good round there.
“The broken collarbone Michael picked up at Berwick last Saturday will keep him out for around six weeks we expect and that’s a big setback, no doubt about it.
“At home, we will use rider replacement for him because the rest of the boys are all flying at the EWR anyway and for the away matches, we’ll decide on a match-by-match basis between booking a guest or using R/R.”
Berwick boss Stewart Dickson said: “We are up against it because the home side are flying at the moment but we have to go there determined to make something happen.
“Before Bastian’s crash at Poole we had worked ourselves into a four-point lead. We will never know if we could have gone on and caused an upset.
“Amid all our recent problems Rory (Schlein) and Drew (Kemp) have been in top form and we need them to lead from the front again along with Lewis (Kerr).”
