SCUNTHORPE boss Rob Godfrey says the previous clashes with Poole “count for nothing” ahead of the BSN Final.

The Scorpions seek to build a lead as they take on holders Poole in the first leg of this season’s Final at the Eddie Wright Raceway today, live on BSN.

It’s the second year in succession that the two clubs have met in a major Final with the Scorpions having got the better of the Pirates to win the 2023 KO Cup, and the silverware is set to be resolved in Dorset on Wednesday.

For the first leg, the home side operate rider replacement for the injured Michael Palm Toft whilst the visitors bring in Charles Wright to guest for skipper Ben Cook who is out with concussion.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “It’s fantastic that for the second season running we end our home campaign with the final of a major competition. It’s a chance for us to get something out of this season after all the hard work that has gone before.

“In terms of riding Poole, just throw everything away that’s gone before and start again, that’s my thought process on this, and I’m sure it’s the riders’ thought process too.

“We start afresh in Heat 1 of the first leg at the Eddie Wright Raceway, it’s a clean slate and the previous matches against Poole this season count for nothing.”

Poole promoter Dan Ford said: “We hope to have Ben back for the second leg, but he misses Sunday’s meeting.

“But besides Ben, we have his brother Zach who is equally impressive around Scunthorpe and with Richard (Lawson) and Tom Brennan spearheading our side then we will go there in a positive frame of mind and looking for a result, just as we did at the beginning of the month in the Cup.”

SCUNTHORPE: Michael Palm Toft r/r, Connor Mountain, Simon Lambert, Jake Allen, Kyle Howarth, Nathan Ablitt, Luke Harrison.

POOLE: Richard Lawson, Sam Hagon, Charles Wright, Zach Cook, Tom Brennan, Tobias Thomsen, Vinnie Foord.
