WOLVES star Ryan Douglas fears getting “pumped” by Belle Vue as they defend a huge KO Cup lead.

The midlanders won the first leg 46-20 at Monmore Green back in April on a rain-soaked circuit.

But since then the ATPI Aces have gone on a five-meeting unbeaten run and look a much more formidable outfit.

With both teams missing key riders, Douglas knows that they could still be in for a tough night, live on BSN.

He said: “We have got a nice lead – but we can’t take it for granted. Belle Vue have pumped teams by 30 points or so a few times at home.

“So we’re going to have to be on our game and turn up like we would any other meeting, trying to get the win on the night. If we all do our jobs then I don’t see why we won’t make it through.”

ATPI Aces star Charles Wright believes they must hit the midlanders hard and early. He said: “We can only take a race at a time. I always say that the first four heats are the most important. If you can get off to a good start there’s no reason why we can’t make a go of it.

“Anything is possible in speedway. You’ve got to go in to try and turn the result around. It’s a massive ask. But we are on form so we’ll give it everything.

“It’s a lot about mindset. If we start strong, they might wobble. But we must start strong.

“We’ve turned it around this season after a tough start. I don’t think we felt any pressure about being defending league champions.”
