SCUNTHORPE boss Rob Godfrey is focused on the “positives” ahead of a crucial clash with Workington, live on BSN.
The Scorpions complete their BSN Series group campaign when they host Workington at the Eddie Wright Raceway tonight (Friday).
Scunny have won one of their three matches so far, a narrow home success over group leaders Redcar, while the Comets need a big weekend if they are to challenge for a semi-final place, with a home clash with the Bears to come on Saturday.
Both sides are at full strength for the clash in Lincolnshire with the Comets having won the reverse fixture 47-43 last weekend.
Scorpions promoter Rob Godfrey said: “We put up a much better show at Workington last Saturday, so I feel things are heading in the right direction.
“There were plenty of positives to take from the Workington trip, particularly Declan Kennedy who won three races from reserve and scored 10 points.
“We’re in a decent position regarding the aggregate bonus point against the Comets. All we can do is to try to score big against them and see where it leaves us once all the regional tables are finalised on Saturday.”
Comets boss James Denham said: “This weekend will be crucial if we want to progress in the BSN Series. The boys haven’t had as much track time as they probably would have liked, but we finally got underway last weekend.
“Winning the aggregate points in all these ties will no doubt be crucial on who qualifies for the semis, and that will be our target.
“Ideally we probably would have liked a little more of a lead heading to Scunthorpe, but for our first meeting at home it was just great to get an opening win on the board and I’m in no doubt the boys are capable of taking it to Scunthorpe.”
SCUNTHORPE: Steve Worrall, Luke Harrison, Simon Lambert, Connor Mountain, Jake Allen, Declan Kennedy, Zaine Kennedy.
WORKINGTON: Troy Batchelor, Jye Etheridge, Tate Zischke, Fraser Bowes, Antti Vuolas, Jacob Hook, Vinnie Foord.
