REDCAR’S flying star Danny King knows that Oxford will be a “tough test” in their opening Cab Direct Championship clash, live on BSN.
It’s a fixture between two sides who have made really strong starts to the season.
The Bears and the Cheetahs are both through to the semi-finals of the MAXiCab KO Cup and BSN Series, and the visitors won their own first league match against Scunthorpe on Wednesday.
However, that result came at a cost with Cameron Heeps suffering a heavy crash from which he remarkably suffered no broken bones, although he requires time out to rest.
The Cheetahs bring in ex-Bears rider Danyon Hume and Sam Hagon to guest, with Jonas Knudsen also missing as he is on Danish Championship duty – but they are boosted by the news that Jordan Jenkins has declared himself fit after also coming to grief on Wednesday.
Meanwhile Redcar hand a debut to new signing Jody Scott, who makes his first appearance against a club with whom he also has a strong association with having stepped in on several occasions last season.
Bears star Danny King said: “I’m not sure Oxford will be our toughest test so far as we have faced some good teams already this year. However, they are another solid side so we will need to produce another good performance to win.
“I’m not surprised by our start this season, it’s been nice to see the performances on track match our expectations and the team are doing what I expected us to do.”
REDCAR: Charles Wright, Jake Mulford, Jason Edwards, Danny King, Erik Riss, Jody Scott, Ace Pijper.
