BERWICK boss Scott Courtney admits he wants his team to be ‘in the mix’ to snatch a last-gasp Play-Off place.

The FTS Bandits go into a crucial Cab Direct Championship clash at fellow strugglers Plymouth tonight, live on BSN.

It’s simply a must-win fixture for both sides if they want to maintain any hopes of silverware.

Courtney said: “With each passing meeting the opportunities to get the points needed to grab that sixth place and a play-off spot grow rarer and rarer.

“Poole are always a tough ask, even at home, but the manner in which we stuck to our task and battled for every point was almost as important as the result.

“Again, it is a question of our riders doing their jobs and putting pressure on Plymouth. The potential is there for this to be the week that we propel ourselves back into the mix with five points at stake against Plymouth and Birmingham.”

Remarkably, the Gladiators have only won one meeting this season and haven’t ridden since June 23.

But they suddenly look an even stronger side with the additions of Dan Thompson and James Pearson.

The return of Hans Andersen, this time in Bandits colours, should add extra spice to the fixture.

PLYMOUTH: Kyle Howarth, Dan Thompson, Ben Barker, Dan Gilkes, Richie Worrall, James Pearson, Ben Trigger.

BERWICK: Rory Schlein, Jonas Knudsen, Jye Etheridge, Leon Flint, Hans Andersen, Steve Boxall, Connor Coles.
