TWO teams whose seasons have not gone according to script clash in front of the BSN cameras tonight.
King’s Lynn look to make it three wins on the bounce, laying the foundations for a third double over Oxford Spires in the process.
Lynn have already done the double over the Cowley club in the KO Cup quarter-finals and the first round of ROWE Motor Oil Premiership matches.
Visitors Oxford have endured a tough campaign with only four wins all season, all against Birmingham, results which should at least ensure they escape the wooden spoon.
They have also been involved in some close home encounters, including against Sheffield last Thursday where they missed out in a last-heat decider having led for much of the early stages of the match.
Stars name a full-strength side and are unchanged from the 53-37 success against the Brummies at the Adrian Flux Arena.
The Spires, captained by Polish star Maciej Janowski who has often enjoyed his returns to Norfolk, continue to give top flight experience to 17-year-old Australian Mitch McDiarmid who guests in place of long-term illness victim Erik Riss, whilst also operating rider replacement for Charles Wright.
King’s Lynn manager Rob Lyon said: “The team we’ve got now is the one we wanted at the start of the season. It should be an interesting few weeks because in terms of the top six.
“Hopefully we can sort Oxford on Monday then the away trips to Ipswich and Oxford while Belle Vue and Sheffield complete our home fixtures.
“With some more track time for Ben Cook around here I would hope that will be enough to collect some points.
“It feels a bit similar to last year really as we look to finish off with a good run at home.”
Spires’ boss Peter Schroeck said: “Against Sheffield we once again showed glimpses of what we are capable of without managing to finish it off.
“But we will keep on battling right to the very last fixture.”
