GLASGOW boss Cami Brown believes it will be another “epic showdown” with Poole.

The Allied Vehicles Tigers face their huge rivals Pirates in the Cab Direct Championship at Ashfield tonight (Friday), live on BSN.

The clubs have slugged it out for the big trophies over the past few years and every clash has been a close encounter.

Over the past three years, the conventional league ties have ended 45-45, 46-44 and 44-46 at Ashfield and Poole are the defending league champions.

Brown admits: “Every meeting with the Pirates is a big one. They set the benchmark for success in British speedway.

“Since returning to the Championship in 2021, it’s only Glasgow who have stopped them winning every title when we overcame them two years ago.

“I don’t see anything but another classic meeting again. Both sides are evenly matched on paper. It’s going to be another epic showdown.”

Tigers have drafted in Ben Barker to replace Ashton Boughen and will utilise rider replacement for broken scaphoid-hit Dan Thompson.

He added: “Ben always gives us 100 per cent and all of our top guys can take a ride for Dan. We’re confident that makes us a strong side.

“We go into the meeting on a high after a fabulous win at Oxford.

“It’s never easy with guests and riders missing but the boys have shown great resilience so far. They’ll need to be on it once again.”

The Pirates meanwhile are without captain Zach Cook who has a commitment in Poland, with Jason Edwards coming in to guest.

Poole promoter Dan Ford said: “Glasgow are a strong outfit for sure, and always difficult to beat on their home patch, so we will have to be at our very best to get the full complement of points from there.

“Unfortunately, and frustratingly, we go into that meeting without skipper Zach Cook who has been called up for a meeting in Poland.

“The mission will be to come back with something and with a view to establishing a good grounding for the aggregate point from the return fixture.”

GLASGOW: Chris Harris, Ben Barker, Dan Thompson r/r, Leon Flint, Kyle Howarth, Freddy Hodder, Max Perry.

POOLE: Richard Lawson, Tobias Thomsen, Jason Edwards, Lewis Kerr, Anders Rowe, Paul Starke, Darryl Ritchings.
