POOLE boss Danny Ford has vowed “no more slip-ups” as they bid to secure top spot in the Cab Direct Championship.

The Pirates are six points ahead of Oxford as they head into their final regular fixture at Edinburgh tonight, with the Cheetahs also in action at Scunthorpe with three matches to go.

Meanwhile Poole, who are at Workington tomorrow in the BSN Series, have Paul Starke in for Vinnie Foord who is not yet fit to return from a shoulder injury.

Ford said: “As we head north, the fixture against Edinburgh is absolutely pivotal.

“A win is essential to keep the pressure on Oxford as we fight for that all-important top spot in the league standings. We can’t afford any more slip-ups.”

The Monarchs are without injured duo Justin Sedgmen and Kye Thomson, with Troy Batchelor and Drew Kemp booked to guest as they look to move off the bottom of the table.

Edinburgh boss Alex Harkess said: “Poole are high in the league. Yet when they came early in the season, we were eight points up after four races. We didn’t keep that up but we still kept ahead and won the match. That has happened with teams at the top whereas we’ve lost to teams lower down.

“So I am no less hopeful of beating Poole than I was against Scunthorpe last week, because the bottom line is: I don’t know what we are going to do!”
