LEICESTER boss Stewart Dickson insists the confidence is high in the team after keeping their unbeaten run going with a win over Oxford Spires last night.
The Lions are now unbeaten in 10 matches after racing to a 50-40 win at Oxford in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership.
Their run of successes will essentially guarantee a first or second place finish ahead of the play-offs, with home and away encounters against King’s Lynn Stars to come next week.
Dickson said: “We were pushed all the way by Oxford, we expected a tough meeting, we knew what we were coming into and we battled hard.
“We stuck to the job in hand, and we got there in the end.
“It’s another win and it keeps the unbeaten run going, and it keeps the confidence high, which is the most important thing.
“There’s a good atmosphere in the pits, and it’s always the same when you’re winning, but things are coming along nicely.”
Luke Becker kept up his sensational form scoring 13 points, with captain Max Fricke adding 12+1.
For the Spires, Maciej Janowski, led the team with 9+1 points.
Oxford boss Peter Schroeck said: “We fell short tonight, but Leicester are a very good team and could easily finish this season as the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership champions, and there’s no shame in losing to a strong side.
“I was tempted to use a tactical substitute, but I wanted to give all our riders their four rides tonight, in appreciation of their efforts throughout the year.
“The boys have given it their all this season, and I think their efforts in our first season back in the top league is something we can be proud of.”
The Lions next face the Stars on Monday at the Adrian Flux Arena.
