THE countdown clock is ticking down the days until British Speedway bursts back onto your screens.
In a little over five weeks Ian Brannan and the team will be welcoming viewers around the world to BSN’s fourth season of live-streaming.
And BSN hit the ground running on Monday March 24 as reigning ROWE Motor Oil Premiership champions Belle Vue Aces kick off their season against Ipswich Witches.
Ipswich, whose 2024 campaign was destroyed by injuries to Emil Sayfutdinov and Jason Doyle, are the visitors to the National Speedway Stadium in the first of 11 live fixtures in the opening months of the season.
Both will be fit for the new season and the Witches, bolstered by winter signing Tom Brennan, will be determined to put the disappointment of last season behind them.
Zach Cook has replaced brother Ben in Aces’ colours while highly-rated teenager Tate Zischke is another to have spent the winter recovering from serious injury.
GP men Dan Bewley and Brady Kurtz again spearhead Belle Vue’s bid to win back-to-back Grand Finals in a year which will see two Grand Prix staged on the all-action Manchester circuit.
While there’s a familiar look to the defending champions it has been all change at Perry Barr with Brimingham bringing in seven new riders.
Dane Michael Jepsen Jensen returns to British racing after just over a decade while Matej Zagar is another tempted back to these shores.
Tobiasz Musielak completes an impressive looking Brummies spearhead which will be fully tested when the new-look side entertains Ipswich on April 7.
King’s Lynn’s strength-in-depth approach – their top six averages range from Chris Harris’ 6.06 to Richard Lawson’s 6.91 – sees experts tipping them to consign a string of disappointing seasons to history and push for the play-offs.
With BSN you can follow the Stars as they visit Sheffield – again led by the Holder brothers and three-time World Champion Tai Woffinden, on April 10 before entertaining beaten 2024 Grand Finalists Leicester four nights later.
The Cab Direct Championship bursts into life over the weekend of 5/6 April and the BSN cameras will be at both the GT Tyres Arena in Workington and Scunthorpe’s Eddie Wright Raceway as the Pairs and Riders’ Championship are staged over consecutive afternoons.
Then it’s to Cowley on April 16 and a repeat of the classis 2024 Grand Final and KO Cup finale as Oxford and Poole clash in the BSN Series. Passions are still running high after the incident packed series of meetings which brought the 204 Championship season to a close.
The Pirates also feature on April 23 when Plymouth make the relatively short trip to Wimborne Road, the Gladiators having pulled off a close-season coup by tempting Nicolai Klindt back to the Cab Direct Championship for the first time since his title winning campaign with Workington in 2018.
Good Friday sees BSN heave over the Border for the clash between Glasgow Tigers and Berwick Bandits.
The all-British Tigers have recruited heavily in the winter with Dan Thompson, Ashton Boughen and Kyle Howarth joining the legendary Chris Harris at Ashfield.
Berwick also look to have invested wisely with former Tigers’ number one Craig Cook and former GP man Peter Kildemand set to make their debut for the Borders’ side.
BSN will also be visiting Shielfield Park on April 26 when Edinburgh, who were the surprise qualifiers from last year’s Scottish section, are the visitors.
That’s 12 different teams covered in the opening months of the season and plenty more to come in a season which will see BSN cover 58 live meetings (18 Premiership and 40 Championship) for Season Pass subscribers.
