GLASGOW boss Cami Brown has urged his side for “one last push” against Oxford.
The Allied Vehicles Tigers face the Cheetahs in their last league clash of the season at Ashfield at 5pm, live on BSN (4.30pm start).
Brown’s defending league champions have suffered a tough season but want to go out on a high against a high-flying Oxford side.
He said: “We always seem to have classic clashes with the Cheetahs and this will be the same.
“We will find it very tough. We have a great No.1 in Chris Harris but we’ve always been scoring far too many last places all season, that’s been our undoing.
“However I feel at Ashfield our second-stings can deliver and we will need to this time.
“Almost every home meeting has followed the same pattern this season where we have started slowly, gone behind and then had to fight back in the latter stages. It’s been highly entertaining but not good for the nerves.
“Oxford have got a brilliant top two in Scott Nicholls and Sam Masters plus the outstanding youngsters Ashton Boughen and Luke Killeen.
“We cannot afford to be chasing the meeting against the Cheetahs. With Masters and Nicholls in two of the last three races, we have to be comfortably in front.
“This is one last push from the boys to show what we are made of. There’s been a lot of strong spirit in the team despite the issues this season.
“We need to finish our regular season at Ashfield on a high for the fans.”
The defending champions have finished outside the top four for the first time since way back in 2014, with their hopes finally ended by Workington’s win over Plymouth on Saturday.
The Tigers sign off the league season with Jason Edwards stepping in as a guest for Anders Rowe, who has a commitment in Poland, whilst Freddy Hodder deputises for the injured Jason Garrad at reserve.
Oxford, who have qualified for the play-offs as runners-up in the regular table, are unchanged from the team which reached the Cab Direct KO Cup Final at Redcar on Friday.
Jacob Hook again guests for Jordan Jenkins with rider replacement in operation for Cameron Heeps, whilst Jody Scott replaces Adam Roynon at reserve.
GLASGOW: Chris Harris, Jack Smith, Jason Edwards, James Pearson, Leon Flint, Matic Ivacic, Freddy Hodder.
OXFORD: Sam Masters, Cameron Heeps r/r, Ashton Boughen, Jacob Hook, Scott Nicholls, Luke Killeen, Jody Scott.
