POOLE boss Danny Ford has vowed “nothing is won yet” ahead of the BSN Final second leg.

The Pirates are red-hot favourites to retain the trophy as they take a 16-point lead into the second leg of the Final against Scunthorpe at Wimborne Road tonight, live on BSN.

The Pirates put on a powerful display in the away leg to win 53-37 and they will now seek to finish the job at home.

And they hope to be back to full strength with skipper Ben Cook having missed the trip to the Eddie Wright Raceway due to concussion.

The Scorpions make two changes with Leon Flint guesting for the injured Michael Palm Toft, whilst reserve Luke Harrison is competing in tomorrow’s European U19 Final in Germany and is replaced by Paul Starke.

Ford said: “We know that nothing is actually won yet, but the boys were formidable at Scunthorpe on Sunday and have put us in a very strong position of being the only club to win this competition.

“I can assure fans that the boys are determined to finish the job on Wednesday and will be going out to put on a similar showing to Sunday.

“To a man they have all been excellent and to hold a 16-point lead is fantastic, but I can tell you that might have been even greater as the team fought hard in what was a great first leg.

“We are rapidly running out of meetings for this incredible season and so I would urge fans to come along and get as much of their speedway fix before the winter closes in on us.”

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “We’re fully aware of the size of the task awaiting us at Poole after our home defeat on Sunday.

“We’ve been the third best team at Cab Direct Championship level this season, and that’s nothing to be ashamed of. It’s not been a bad season because we got to three semi-finals and one final.

“We’ll approach the meeting at Poole like any other. We’d like to come out of it having given them a meeting and with our pride intact.”
