SCUNTHORPE boss Rob Godfrey insists no slip-ups when they face rivals Glasgow.

The Scorpions welcome back Michael Palm Toft for tonight’s (Friday) big top-five clash with the Tigers at the Eddie Wright Raceway, live on BSN.

Gordfrey’s side are unbeaten at home in the Cab Direct Championship but they did lose an aggregate point at the hands of Edinburgh last week.

Palm Toft returns after a month on the sidelines and comes back in at No.1, with the defending champions also at full strength and in good form after three straight wins.

Godfrey said: “The return of Michael from injury is great news, as we start the second half of our league season.

“Eight matches down, eight to go, and if we can repeat our first half record of five wins from eight in the second half, that should be enough to take us into the play-offs.

“My targets are set higher than just making the play-offs – I want a top two finish. Glasgow are one of the sides close behind us so we need to ensure there are no slip-ups and hopefully we can also build up a decent lead to stand us in good stead for the aggregate point when we travel to Scotland for the return fixture in two weeks’ time.”

Glasgow boss Cami Brown says his side need to treat every meeting like a “cup final” to retain the league title.

After moving up to fifth in the table after their biggest win of the season over Plymouth, Brown wants his side to keep pushing.

Brown said: “It’s more encouraging from the boys. I think it’s fair to say it’s the first time this season we’ve really put a team to the sword.

“It was a good belief building win but it’s just one win. We need to treat every meeting now like a cup final.

“Every tie now is difficult in my mind. We need to stay unbeaten at home and pick up more away to get into the top four, that’s for sure.”

“Scunny are very good at home but we will go there with a strong belief of getting a result.

“After returning to Ashfield on July 19 then it’s properly the business end of the season and we have to push on.”
