EDINBURGH speedway have linked up with Falkirk football club in a ‘Bikes and Bairns’ partnership to boost their fanbases.

The Stellar Monarchs begin their season on April 5 bidding to emulate Falkirk’s current success at the top of the Scottish League One table.

It has been revealed that both clubs will work together for fan engagement and community work.

Monarchs Development Director Gordon Campbell said, "This is a terrific partnership with Falkirk FC and it is a great credit to Graeme Stewart at Falkirk and our own Scott Wilson in putting this together.

“Through working with Falkirk we will boost awareness of the Monarchs in the local area as we aim to continue to grow our fanbase. We are working on initiatives to bring benefit to Falkirk FC and to introduce their supporters to speedway.

“We are excited to see this partnership established and to see it develop in the coming seasons. It fits nicely into our growth strategy for the Monarchs across all areas."

To kick off the tie-up, Stellar Monarchs will be present this Saturday at Falkirk's home match against Edinburgh City FC, where a big crowd is expected as there is a chance that Falkirk could clinch the league title.

Justin Sedgmen and mascot Ed the Monarch will join John McGillivray and Scott Wilson to host a speedway display outside the main stand pre-match to introduce fans to speedway racing and the Monarchs.

As part of the partnership arrangement Falkirk FC are set to visit Armadale Stadium for a Monarchs match this season.
