GLASGOW’S Kyle Howarth admits it was “a blast” performing for the red and white army.

The Allied Vehicles Tigers No5 was an outstanding winter signing as they narrowly missed out on the Cab Direct Championship title.

Howarth, 31, delivered so many huge wins under pressure but he feels the victories over huge rivals Edinburgh were extra special.

He revealed: “It’s been a blast. To do what we have achieved it was down to having a good bunch of lads.

“We won so many last heat deciders, it’s such a buzz with all the nerves. When you win them, it’s such a good feeling.

“The Edinburgh last heat deciders were very special. I’ve not ridden for a club where the fanbase turns a corner of the away stadium into red and white.

“When you win them and see the fans going crazy, you really appreciate what you do. It’s nice to give the fans that enjoyment. It’s a great feeling.”

Howarth’s out and out racer style immediately fitted in for the Glasgow management and fans.

He added: “Chris Harris and I are both racers. Home and away you know what you are going to get from us both.

“Sometimes I try too hard and I do make mistakes through giving it 100 per cent at all times.

“I’ve really enjoyed this season. From the start I was a little bit frustrated because I know what I can deliver. I had to settle down and find my lines.

“When you come to Ashfield as an away rider, you just have to deal with it.

“But being here every week I had to settle down, find the right engine and set-up. Once I had done that, I was away.

“I know what this club wants, they are a successful and professional club. They are a business. They don’t mess about.

“They employ winners and they want to win. Simple. This is what I want to do. I’ve won before and I want to win again.

“My riding style says it all, I’m here to race. Sometimes I race a little bit too hard. It’s been great to be a part of this club.”
