NICOLAI Klindt cannot wait to finally “kick off” his season after a stuttering start.

The Dane, released by Oxford Spires after four meetings, had no hesitation in signing for the Stars in the wake of Vadim Tarasenko’s decision to call time on his British career, rejoining the club he served with distinction in two previous spells.

Klindt makes his first appearance in the home clash with Birmingham on Thursday (May 2), his return to the Adrian Flux arena a huge boost for a Norfolk side which has been beset by injuries and other issues.

The Stars are currently at the foot of the ROWE Oil Premiership without a point from their four meetings. But after a promising display at Oxford on Thursday where they lost by only four points, they are confident of getting things right.

And Klindt will play a key role should be able to assist with that, given his form at the Adrian Flux Arena last season, where he recorded a series of big double-figure scores.

He said: “King’s Lynn is a place I enjoy riding; it’s a good club and the fans are great. Even though we didn’t win many meetings in the last couple of years they were still supportive.

“On a personal note I really enjoyed last year. I turned my season around and I think I had only two meetings out of the last ten when I scored below 12 points.

“So I’m looking to kick off on a track that I know and start off strong when I come in for my first meeting against Birmingham.

“When I joined them in ’22 I started off pretty well at home, and I know I can ride the place well.

“I have a good relationship with Buster (Keith Chapman) and the track guy from the last few seasons, so I know what to expect, and I’m also really looking forward to working with Rob Lyon.

“I think it’s definitely going to benefit me personally, because he’s one of the best team managers in the league.”

Klindt’s return comes at the start of a busy run of fixtures for the Stars in the first half of next month, as they also race at home to Leicester on May 9 and have trips to Ipswich (May 6) and Birmingham (May 13).
