POOLE boss Danny Ford reckons the club “can get the best” out of new signing Lewis Kerr.

The Wessex Marine Pirates have snapped up the King’s Lynn-based star for the 2025 season.

The Dorset side won the Cab Direct Championship treble this year but have seen two of their top riders depart, meaning fresh support is required for No.1 Richard Lawson.

They have moved for Kerr who spent this season with Berwick, and also had a short spell at Wimborne Road as injury cover back in 2017.

Promoter Dan Ford said: “With Ben [Cook] and Tom [Brennan] both moving on we needed to bring in a heavy hitter, and Lewi was desperate to join us at Poole.

“Lewi held the No.1 spot with Berwick last season, which came with a lot of pressure, but here at Poole he won’t have that full weight on his shoulders.

“We are confident that once he gets settled and dialled in to Wimborne we can bring out the very best in him, just as we did with Richard Lawson in 2022.

“Rich and Lewi are good friends, which will definitely help Lewi settle in quickly. We are really excited to see what he can bring to the team.”
