BERWICK No.1 Lewis Kerr has passed a fitness test and returns to action at Scunthorpe.
The Jewson Bandits top star has been out for over a month after fracturing his ankle racing at Oxford on April 11.
Kerr, 34, had the cast taken off the ankle ten days ago and has been undergoing oxygen chamber treatment in addition to physiotherapy, running and gym work in an effort to return to action.
He said: “I did a few laps at Oxford on Wednesday night to test the ankle and I had no problems at all.
“I’m delighted to be back, it’s been a long month and I hate being off the bike.
“Now I just want to return immediately to the form I was in before the injury. It’s been so frustrating to have a lay-off because I had started the season really well.
“The main thing now is to focus on is getting big points and Berwick keeping up the good results.”
The Jewson Bandits are defending an 18-point lead at Scunthorpe in the second leg of the Cab Direct KO Cup quarter-final - the winners to meet high-flying Poole in the semis.
Kerr added: “It’s a tough meeting at Scunthorpe. We have a good lead but they are brilliant around their own place.
“But the boys did a great job to do the double over Redcar last weekend. There’s a lot of belief in the camp so I think we can get the job done.”
