BERWICK boss Stewart Dickson believes that Drew Kemp can be a “superstar” of the Cab Direct Championship.

The FTS Bandits have revealed the Ipswich-based hot prospect as their latest acquisition.

Kemp, 21, has been gradually progressing up the ranks and was a key scorer in Scunthorpe’s KO Cup glory over Poole last season.

Dickson said: “I’m really pleased to sign Drew. He’s a young man who has got so much potential and has already shown what he’s capable of at this level.

“I worked with him last season at Leicester and he’s a really good kid. I firmly believe he can be a superstar of the Championship.

“Like any youngster, it’s about finding consistency. Drew is constantly striving for that and sometimes gets frustrated when he doesn’t achieve what he wants to.

“I will never complain about that. He’s a rider who wants to succeed and doesn’t like losing. There’s nothing wrong with that in my book.

“Like Danyon Hume, Drew can get out the starts and get dialled into the Shielfield Park, then he’ll be hard to beat.

“Speedway is a confidence game. Drew can definitely get the belief he needs to be a massive success at Berwick and we will give him the support to achieve that.”

Kemp joins Rory Schlein, Lewis Kerr and Hume as the four riders revealed by the new-look Bandits for 2024.

Dickson added: “It’s a very exciting time for the club. This is a new beginning and we have experience and raw talent, that should be a potent mix.

“I firmly believe that this will be an exciting side which can deliver results home and away. I can’t wait to reveal the full team and get to work on results in March.”
