YOUNG British star Jack Thomas is out for the season after a horror crash in practice.
The Ipswich and Poole rider sustained two broken vertebrae, broken neck, broken ribs and bruised lungs in the pile-up at Scunthorpe on Thursday.
Thomas, 23, has been transferred to see a specialist neuro surgeon in Hull.
He said: “It was going great in practice until the crash. Seeing a surgeon later to get fixed. I’ve been transferred to Hull to see a neuro surgeon. I’ve still got feeling.”
Thomas had signed for Ipswich in the Premiership as their Rising Star and Cab Direct Championship title holders Poole.
Pirates promoter Dan Ford said: “I am sure I can speak on behalf of speedway supporters across the country when I say that we wish Jack a speedy recovery.
“I know our own fans will be disappointed that we will not have the chance to see Jack do a full season with us.
“We can only hope that Jack will be given the best possible treatment and work his way back to fitness and that we will have the opportunity to see him at a meeting or two as his recovery evolves.”
