THE much-awaited Cab Direct Championship play-off semi-finals will see HISTORY being made.

Next Wednesday (September 11) will see the first-ever simultaneous BSN streaming broadcast from both meetings at Poole and Oxford.

This will mean sensational coverage of the first legs between the Pirates against Workington or Glasgow and the Cheetahs versus Scunthorpe, never seen before in the second tier of British speedway.

Back in 1999, in Sky Sports’ first year of covering the Elite League, they delivered a simultaneous broadcast of Peterborough and Poole as they battled it out for the title at Alwalton and King’s Lynn.

However it’s never been attempted in the Championship and means a night of high drama is expected.

BSN plan to run races alternately from meeting to meeting for an even more entertaining broadcast for the viewer. Not only that it’s two meetings for just £14.99, which is also incredible value for the armchair fan.

Both meetings are set to be crackers. Poole are hungry to reclaim the league title they dramatically lost to Glasgow at Wimborne Road last October.

They will take on Workington or Glasgow in the first leg in Dorset next week. It is most likely to be Comets on their return to the Championship, six years after they won the treble in 2018 and didn’t race again at Derwent Park.

On the same night high-flying Oxford face Scunthorpe in another tense encounter.

The Cheetahs have been the in-form team having ended Poole’s 42-meeting home unbeaten run recently.

But Scunny continue to be the unsung heroes of the division. The reigning KO Cup holders have proved to be difficult opponents, especially on their home circuit at the Eddie Wright Raceway.

September 11 is set to be a historic night in many ways…don’t miss it!
