FREDDY HODDER is ready to be a big hit at Glasgow after keeping his belief during a tough debut year in the Cab Direct Championship.

The new Allied Vehicles Tigers reserve showed a great deal of promise last season but is hungry to improve further at Ashfield.

Hodder, 18, joins a team full of hot prospect British talent and he believes that will help him progress.

He revealed: “It’s a very professional club and all the boys bounce off each other in a good way. That’s going to help out a lot when the season starts.

“If I’m honest Ashfield is somewhere I’ve struggling in the past until the last meeting when I guested against Oxford.

“My results weren’t always the best until that time. But I felt I was just getting used to the lines. Now I think I have learnt enough to be a success.

“That guest booking when I got eight points, I really enjoyed it. Once I have figured out the lines, I know I can improve and build on that. It will be a good step for my career.”

Hodder started last year on fire for Berwick but recovered to end the season in good form after a difficult lull of scoring.

He added: “It was a really tough season in 2024. It’s always a baptism of fire. But that was always going to be the case. Every rider who steps up from the National League to the Championship finds it a big jump in standard.

“I went through a bit of a low stage of not scoring. But I was really happy that I stayed mentally strong and kept my belief and kept working hard.

“That’s why I ended the season well by scoring well again. I fought hard for that. That will help me in the future when you inevitably have tough patches to deal with.

“I don’t want to go back into a rut. I think moving to Glasgow will be a good move. It’s a great club, there’s experienced riders in the team who I can talk to. But overall I’m a winner and I want to improve and play my part in a winning team.”
