PLYMOUTH have swooped to sign up seven-times British Champion Scott Nicholls.

The Gladiators moved quickly to secure the fit-again former GP star and will make his debut on Friday at Edinburgh, live on BSN.

It comes after the Devon club suffered the blow of losing new capture Daniel Klima, who suffered a broken leg in Germany on Saturday.

Nicholls had to miss the start of the season due to a shoulder injury but he recently had a practice run and came through unscathed.

In a statement on their social media, Plymouth revealed: “While we wish Daniel a full and speedy recovery, the club has reshaped its 1-7 with both experience and excitement heading into a packed second half of the season.

“We’re honoured to welcome none other than Scott Nicholls to the Gladiators for the remainder of our Championship campaign.

“Scott will make his Gladiators debut this Friday away at Edinburgh, kicking off a busy stretch of 10 fixtures in six weeks (five home and five away).

“He’ll be joined by exciting NDL and Grass Track talent Aarran Butcher, who steps into the No.7 spot and brings solid experience and full race fitness.

“We also want to send a heartfelt thank you to Mitchell Cluff, who makes way due to team average restrictions. Mitchell has shown real potential and professionalism, and we hope to see him back in Gladiators colours in the future.”

Promoter Mark Phillips added: “It was tough to lose Daniel after such a promising start, but to bring in someone of Scott’s pedigree is a huge boost for the club and the fans.

“Scott doesn’t just bring points—he brings leadership, energy, and unmatched knowledge of the sport. Aarran’s attitude and maturity will also be a big asset in the reserve berth.”

The new Gladiators team line-up: 1.Scott Nicholls, 2.Lasse Fredriksen, 3.Joe Thompson, 4.Ben Barker, 5.Nicolai Klindt, 6.Alfie Bowtell, 7.Aaran Butcher.
