DAN THOMPSON admits he was “fired-up” for Leicester win and now wants his new side Ipswich to keep pushing for the Play-Offs.

The British Under-21 star produced an outstanding paid 13 in the Witches’ vital win in the East Midlands on Monday.

Now he wants that run to continue at King’s Lynn in a crucial Sports Insure Premiership local derby tonight, live on BSN.

He said: “I was really fired-up and so were the rest of the boys. Obviously Leicester had a strong record with eight meetings unbeaten.

“But we’re a strong team and we all fired on Monday night. Just shows what you can do when everyone puts points on the board.”

Thompson was sacked by the Lions earlier this season but got the ultimate revenge with his points haul.

He admitted: “At the time it was a real quiet period for me with racing, probably only once a week.

“I couldn’t really find my feet, especially being in the top league. Since then I’ve joined Ipswich and they’ve been really supportive  of me.

“They give me all my rides and let me get the experience and I’m finally getting there.

“It was good to pass Chris Harris on Monday night. I’ve been watching him since I was little. I could hear him and I knew he was coming fast.

“I knew I’d have to pull a big locker to get back past him and get up the inside, which I did. A good night and hopefully the team can keep moving on up now.”

King’s Lynn once again have to patch up their side following the most recent injury to Thomas Jorgensen and Ben Basso guests for Michael Palm Toft.

Stars boss David Hoggart said: “The new averages are out for August, and we are largely in the same shape because it seems to work well with Nicolai (Klindt) at No.5.

“Ipswich will be tough, but I certainly hope they don’t come and turn us over. I know I’ve been saying that for a month now, and it has been difficult for us.

“Losing Thomas is another blow, but we’ve got to do our very, very best. You could see riders racing for it last week, and hopefully they will make some better starts as that was where we lost out against Peterborough.”

KING’S LYNN: Artem Laguta, Thomas Jorgensen R/R, Benjamin Basso, Emil Breum, Nicolai Klindt, Simon Lambert, Anders Rowe.

IPSWICH: Emil Sayfutdinov, Erik Riss, Danny King, Keynan Rew, Jason Doyle, Danyon Hume, Dan Thompson.
