POOLE promoter Danny Ford believes fans are in for a “thrilling” BSN Series Final.
The Pirates take on Glasgow in what promises to be a cracking first leg at Wimborne Road tonight, live on BSN.
Boss Ford is convinced that his side have extra levels before facing their fierce rivals.
He said: “Wednesday night probably has a slight extra edge to it now as we only have one option, and that is to post as big a score as possible to put us in a strong position to lift the trophy when we eventually go to their place on the 21st.
“Our lads believe in their own ability and the good thing, in a way, is that collectively, we have not seen all our riders at their individual best too often this season, and the determination is there to make it happen.
“This is a Cup Final, and those two words just up the ante that extra bit, and I am sure those that turn out at the stadium on Wednesday night will be in for a thrilling meeting.”
Glasgow captain Tom Brennan knows that his side have to all hit form to stop the Pirates winning another trophy.
He said: “Of course it’s going to be a huge task. The Pirates have won pretty much everything over the past two years for a reason, they have got the know-how and delivered when it counts.
“But most of the boys in this Glasgow team have achieved success down the years. We’ve just got to make sure we all turn up and produce the points on both nights.
“We do feel like we want a bit of revenge against Poole. They’ve comfortably beaten us over the past two years in the Championship Play-Offs. And, trust me, that hurts and that feeling never really leaves you.
“I was in the race in 2021 Grand Final at Wimborne Road when they clinched the title and it’s not nice.
“But the main thing is just to focus on doing our job in this first leg so we can lift the trophy.”
