POOLE’S Steve Worrall says it’s “more than doable” to overturn Glasgow’s 14-point lead in the Cab Direct Championship Grand Final.

The Wessex Marine Pirates must overturn the deficit on home shale in what should be an epic second leg at Poole Stadium tonight, live on BSN.

Despite their biggest defeat of the season at Ashfield, there was still an air of confidence in the Poole camp.

Worrall said: “At first I thought it was sailing away from us. I won that first heat in nine and then it kind of snowballed from there.

“Richard then won one, we nicked a few heat advantages and we kind of made a respectable scoreline.

“It’s not the end of the world 14 points. We would have taken that halfway through the meeting, definitely.

“When you think it’s just three 5-1s and a big Heat 15. It’s more than doable for us.”

Worrall is confident that after crushing the Tigers 62-28 in the BSN Final and 53-37 in the league, they can turn on the power again at Wimborne Road.

He added: “There’s a few things going against them. Vadim Tarasenko is a fantastic rider and I’m sure he’ll adapt really quick but he’s never ridden Poole before.

“Some of the Glasgow lads don’t ride Poole like they do here at Ashfield.

“We stumbled with our reserves a bit tonight. Kyle (Newman) had a few dramas which we’ve got to address before Wednesday.

“At home we’re in a better place with our reserves and the engine room of the team is very strong at Poole.

“Middlo said at the end he’s confident we can still do it. It showed tonight the fight in the team.

“Other teams would have maybe just rolled over and waved the white flag. But we still dug in.”

Glasgow’s Chris Harris is out to break Poole hearts once again in a Play-Off Grand Final.

The Allied Vehicles Tigers’ No.1 beat the Pirates on their home patch to win the league for Coventry 13 years ago.

Now he wants to do it again and said: “This team has got a lot of fight. That showed against Oxford and then here tonight.

“There’s a long way to go yet. We’ve got to defend 14 points and they are tough round their home track. But there’s no reason why we can’t go down there and win with the roll we are on at the minute.

“We know what the track is going to be like, it will be slick, I’ve never known it to be anything different. If it’s grippy then perfect.

“Whatever they throw at us, it’s the same for everyone, we’ll do all that we can do.

“I redeemed myself when I won the league with Poole in 2018 after breaking their hearts in 2010.

“I’ve got to try and do it again this year. I owe this one to Glasgow. Let’s break their hearts again.”
