DAN THOMPSON admits there were plenty of “positives” after top scoring for Great Britain.

Ipswich and Glasgow delivered an impressive paid 12 in the test match win in California and was named as the GB rider of the night.

He said: “I’m really happy with my score. It’s different to ride on equipment you’re unfamiliar with, but I found a good set-up and had speed.

“It was a good victory for Great Britain, and a big thanks to the guys who’ve helped me in the pits.

“Plenty of positives to bring home with me as we get closer to the start of the season.”

Meanwhile Ashton Boughen had a fortunate escape after crashing out of Saturday’s Test Match.

Boughen required a hospital trip after a hard fall in Heat 14 when he came to grief on the fourth bend, with concussion being the major damage.

He said: “Not the way I wanted the races to go here in the States!

“(To have) two crashes wasn’t planned, but thankful I have no broken bones – concussed with a battered body and a few hours in hospital.

“Massive thanks to all the pit crew who helped me at the races from USA, and thanks to GB Speedway Team for giving me this opportunity.”
