ARMADALE legend Craig Cook bids to keep Edinburgh rooted to the foot of the Cab Direct Championship as Workington continue their bid for a play-off place in front of the BSN cameras tonight.

Cook, who set the Edinburgh track record over a decade ago, has been in fine form for the league newcomers this season.

But they race for the first time since exciting young Australian Tate Zischke suffered season-ending injuries on his Premiership debut for Belle Vue.

With two other meetings taking place tonight they opt to use rider-replacement with all-bar Cook eligible for a ride.

Another ex-Grand Prix man Troy Batchelor, former Monarch Claus Vissing and Finnish Speedway of Nations star Antti Vuolas have given great backing to Cook.

Workington currently lie in the fourth and final play-off place but will expect to come under pressure from Glasgow in their bid to qualify for post-season.

For Edinburgh, a big win could leap-frog them over Berwick and off the bottom of the table, although trailing 61-29 means that it would take a herculean performance to lift the aggregate point.

Monarchs’ team manager Alex Harkess admitted that his sides’ home form continues to baffle. He said: “Every time I have gone to Armadale thinking this is going to be a tough night we’ve won, but on the two nights I’ve arrived believing we should win, we've lost!

“Workington have a very strong top two. We know about Craig Cook more than anybody. Hopefully our top two will compete and we’ll be OK.”

Edinburgh: Josh Pickering, Kye Thomson, Lasse Fredriksen, Paco Castagna, Justin Sedgmen, Max James, Connor Coles.

Workington: Craig Cook, Tate Zischke R/R, Antti Vuolas, Laylan Richardson (G), Troy Batchelor, Mason Watson (G), Sam McGurk.

EDIT - Claus Vissing and Celina Liebmann are now unavailable for this fixture due to flight issues caused by today's global software disruption.
