OXFORD boss Peter Schroeck believes reaching the Grand Final is a “celebration” of what the club has achieved.
The Monarch Cheetahs take on Poole in what is now the first leg of the Cab Direct Championship Grand Final this Friday, live on BSN.
Following the heavy rain all week, and with more forecast, an early decision was made to call off the first leg at Oxford on Wednesday, meaning that the Pirates will now host the first leg on Friday at Wimborne Road.
Looking forward to the Grand Final clash, boss Schroeck remains cautious.
He said: “We will go there and give it our best, keeping it as close as possible for the second leg.”
He also paid tribute to the story of the reborn Oxford Cheetahs and that reaching the final was a cause for joy.
He added: “This is a celebration of the incredible work everybody is putting in behind the scenes and is a really exciting time for sport in Oxford.”
The Cheetahs have booked Dan Gilkes as a guest for Jordan Jenkins, and he will be riding at No2, with Cameron Heeps moving to No4.
With the cooperation of the Poole management, the Cheetahs have moved quickly to rearrange the home leg for Saturday, October 5 at 7.30pm. This will be the first Saturday speedway fixture at Cowley for 56 years.
On Saturday, July 13, 1968 the Cheetahs beat the Newport Wasps 54-24 in a meeting scheduled to avoid the British Final being held at Wimbledon.
