EDINBURGH boss Alex Harkess admits captain Paco Castagna is the key to his side’s glory hopes.

The Stellar Monarchs take on local rivals Glasgow next Friday (April 12) in the BSN Series at Ashfield, after their opener scheduled for this Friday (April 5) was rained-off.

Harkess promoted the flamboyant Italian to skipper in a bid to boost his scoring consistency and hopes the move pays off.

He said: “With Paco lies the crux of everything. We all know what he can do from time to time, but not all the time.

“He himself is admitting that consistency is the name of the game and he has to achieve that.

“He’s been around long enough now. Let’s hope with the added responsibility he has that he takes it on board and sets out to score better himself. There is a lot on his shoulders.”

The Monarchs beat Glasgow in the corresponding fixture a year ago but failed to beat them again them as their rivals went on to win the league title.

Harkess added: "We did well in this opening derby last year and did very little else after it – so this year we want to do well again and follow up with a much better season.

“We’ve got to, really, believe in ourselves, and do what we are capable of doing.”
