OXFORD kid Jody Scott was “buzzed” after the incredible win in the Cab Direct Championship against Workington Comets.

The 57-33 win at Oxford’s Cowley Stadium pushes the team three points clear at the top of the Cab Direct Championship.

Cheetahs racked up their biggest score of 2024 so far despite losing recent signing, Adam Roynon, to injury and the Comets being at full strength. Scott stepped in with great effect.

Nicholls said: “Pete Schroeck gave me the opportunity tonight and I’m buzzed that I’ve responded to that by scoring good points.

“Getting out of the start is key for me to be able to do well at this level, and that’s why I’ve been practicing my starts because it does make a big difference and it’s paying off. I just want to keep on progressing.

“I’ve been working as hard this year as I ever have been, because it’s what I want to do with my career.

"Hopefully the opportunities for Cheetahs will continue to come and I can continue to score points.”

Nicholls and Sam Masters scored an impressive 10+1 points, with both riders also managing to edge out the Comets star Craig Cook in Heat 13.

Cook was on fire, giving the Cheetahs a hard time and finishing with an impressive 15 points, making nearly half the Comets’ total up from six rides and winning five races.

Losing Roynon gave Scott, a National Development League team member, the opportunity to race in reserve, notching 6+2 points.

Oxford Cheetahs will next race against Plymouth Gladiators on the 20th July.

Workington Comets will be hoping for a comeback in the next meet also against Plymouth Gladiators on the 6th July.
