GLASGOW boss Cami Brown hailed hero captain Chris Harris after an incredible comeback to beat Scunthorpe.

On a night of high drama at Ashfield, the Allied Vehicles Tigers fought back from eight points down to win 48-41 in a thriller.

After extensive treatment, Harris somehow got up from a horror crash in Heat 1 to reel off four wins and would have had a maximum but for an engine failure while leading Heat 13.

There was further drama in Heat 14 when new signing Matic Ivacic tangled with Connor Mountain for another dreadful pile-up.

Referee Willie Dishington excluded Mountain and then he and captain Simon Lambert went to the ref’s box to confront him over the decision. Lambert was fined for swearing.

Brown said: “That was quite incredible entertainment. The meeting had a bit of everything and pure drama from start to finish.

“I think it’s probably taken about five years off my life. But we serve up entertainment with a capital E at Ashfield.

“I can’t speak highly enough of Chris. To get up from that incident and lead the side in that way was quite incredible. He is a very special sportsman.

“The new boys couldn’t get dialled in tonight and guest Ben Barker had an engine failure in second in Heat 4.

“That put us right up against it. But every single one of the team were heroes.

“Leon Flint was outstanding and is starting to look so impressive at Ashfield. James Pearson also delivered with aggressive wins. Jack Smith has been unwell all week and nearly didn’t ride, but he came good as well.

“I also have to give a special mention to Ben who was absolutely sensational as a guest. I was pleased to see Matic get his first win in such a crucial Heat 14.

“A hell of a night of racing. We have very big tests around the corner. But we’ll enjoy that outstanding entertainment.”
