GLASGOW’S Chris Harris has won the fans vote for Cab Direct Championship Rider of the Year – for the second successive season.
The Allied Vehicles Tigers captain was involved in spectacular action throughout the season culminating in the memorable Grand Final when the Tigers lost out to Poole in a Super Heat.
‘Bomber’ also won the WRSA ‘Ride of the Season’ for the incredible pass of Zach Cook in Heat 15 of that epic decider against the Pirates.
Harris polled 40 per cent of the vote, with Pirates No.1 Richard Lawson in second place ahead of Sam Masters and Charles Wright.
Glasgow boss Cami Brown said: “I’ve said it all along, Bomber is the best rider in the Championship.
“He’s the most decorated rider in the league, he’s done it on the biggest stages of all and he produces the best racing than any other rider. Simple as that.
“Speedway is an entertainment business and he is the No1 entertainer in the league.”
The Young Rider of the Year award was taken by Redcar’s Jody Scott, who performed heroics for the Bears in the BSN Series Final. He finished ahead of 16-year-old Will Cairns, British Under-19 Champion Luke Harrison and another Redcar rider, Ace Pijper.
The Most Improved Rider award went to Poole’s Anders Rowe in a very close contest with himself, Drew Kemp, Luke Killeen and Jacob Hook all separated by just 11 percentage points.
Last year’s Most Improved Rider Dan Thompson this year won Signing of the Season after his successful year at Glasgow, ahead of his Tigers team-mate Villads Nagel, who edged out Victor Palovaara and Mitch McDiarmid.
