TWO of the ROWE Oil Premiership’s in-form teams look to serve up a Bank Holiday special at Owlerton.
Sheffield moved to the top of the standings last Thursday thanks to a combination of their Super Heat victory at Oxford and visitors’ Leicester winning at Ipswich.
The Tigers’ have a 100 per cent home record this season but last week picked up points on their travels having also won at King’s Lynn on Monday.
But Leicester will arrive full of confidence after that Foxhall Heath success and they will be nicely warmed up having entertained Birmingham in a high noon showdown at Beaumont Park.
Tigers’ team manager Simon Stead is expecting a close contest. He said: “Leicester will come to us on something of a high after winning at Ipswich and they have a team which has shown in the past that they give us a challenge.
“Add into the mix our old friend Kyle Howarth and this one has got the potential to be another belter.
“Although results have been good I don’t think we’ve hit our stride yet and think there’s room for improvement – and how exciting is that when you consider how we’ve got started?
“We’ve seen what makes this team so special because even if one or two of the boys are having an off night, others step up to the plate and get us over the line more often than not.”
Lions’ Australian star Sam Masters believes that there is more to come from Leicester despite upsetting the form book at Ipswich.
He said: “We’ve got a good bunch of boys here and it’s basically the same team as last year, so we know the drill.“We all knew each other anyway and I think that’s why we achieved what we did last season, getting on with mates, and that brings points.
“It shows when you go to these away tracks that we all dig deep and have a good time and pick up some points on the road.”
Start time in south Yorkshire is 6.30pm with the Premiership meeting followed by a WRSA NDL fixture between the Steelers and Leicester Lion Cubs.
