BELLE VUE superstar Dan Bewley stunned a Grand Prix press conference by admitting his pre-meeting superstition is a TOILET BREAK!

The ATPI Aces star was talking in Paris during the GP series media launch ahead of the first round in Croatia later this month.

Bewley, 24, was asked if he had any pre-meeting lucky rituals and he delivered a hilarious response.

He said: “I try not to be. It’s more just a bit of a routine, bit of a warm-up. I like to have a s*** before a meeting.

Bewley made a strangely subdued start to the season for the Aces with just five points in their opener last week against Sheffield.

He will be back in action on Monday night against Leicester - live on BSN - in their first ROWE Motor Oil Premiership clash.

Bewley, in the space of three years, has become Great Britain’s most prolific winner with a Speedway of Nations gold medal, three Grand Prix wins and two British championships.

On his chances of becoming world champion, he said: “I don’t really know what people have me down as. In a certain sense, I don’t really care what people think. I’m happy with what I’m doing.

“Right now I feel like I’ve given myself the best chance I can for a good 2024 season.

“As long as I get to the end of a season I feel like I’ve left no stone unturned kind of thing and always give it my best. What will be, will be.

“There’s no specific target. It’s just 100 per cent all the way to the end.

“I think speedway is one of those sports where it’s a bit unique.

“To be honest I think any rider would say that when you’ve got it working and the bike working for you and you believe in yourself, sometimes it is easy.

“People might not like that. I’m sure every rider feels the same way.

“Sometimes it’s real easy and sometimes it’s a lot tougher.

“I think what I’ve learnt over the past four or five years about how important it is to have a good team around you.

“If you have the right people around you, it makes it easier. You see that with past world champions, it’s always a strong team.”
