DAN BEWLEY is ready to lead Great Britain at the “cool” California Bakersfield raceway.

The World No.4 is the spearhead for a young national side against the Americans tonight, live on BSN.

Bewley, 25, admits that he is delighted to get racing competitively again with the season a few weeks away.

He said: “It speeds you getting back into riding a bit because we'll do a day’s practice and then the meeting and racing and practicing is not the same.

“I’m looking forward to it, it’s a cool track, nice, cool bunch of people putting the meeting on and just looking forward to it.

“Being No.1 definitely looks cool but we’ll see how we go.”

Team-mate Leon Flint revealed he is just delighted to get away from the cold of a UK winter.

He added: “Everyone will know this weather in England has been pretty poor. I suffer pretty bad from whitefinger as well, so it'll be nice to get some circulation on my hands. It's good.

“Luke Becker puts up with me for the time I’m over there. I get plenty of training. We did plenty of training last year. I also come very close to beating him on his own bike, so hopefully this year I can do it.

“I was working up to Christmas. Just been helping my dad with his flooring business, mainly doing Luxury Vinyl Plank Flooring.

“You stick it down. It's a very slow start. Once you get it down it’s all good. I just do the big open spaces. I wouldn’t trust myself to get the right measurements to do a big cut!

“After Christmas I just wanted to put all my focus into my training and get everything sorted. I’ve taken on quite a lot just for myself this winter. Going to see all my sponsors, trying to chase up for new sponsors. Also getting all my bikes ready. Like I said before, trying to train my mindset as well.”
