BERWICK boss Stewart Dickson says the club will continue to “build” a strong platform for success.
The R.E.D Campers Bandits just missed out on the Cab Direct Championship play-offs by just two points.
Considering it was another season of turmoil with injuries and issues, Dickson is confident of pushing on from a much more promising campaign.
He said: “There’s a lot to be satisfied with from 2025. I’ll never be content with fifth place, that’s for sure.
“But considering the problems, we were very competitive from the midway point of the season.
“There’s a lot to ponder going forward but there’s a wee bit of expectation from myself to make sure we build on that strong platform and get into the top four next season.
“It still blows me away that Berwick haven’t won a senior league title in their history.
“This is a great club and has had some great riders down the years. It’s such a shame the level of success this club deserves hasn’t been achieved.
“That’s my job now to make that happen. It’s not easy that’s for sure.
“I’ve been very fortunate to turnaround a similar situation at Leicester in 2019 in my first season at the club. They hadn’t won a league title but we got it done.
“That doesn’t mean to say it will happen just like that at Berwick. But that has to be our No1 target.
“The priority first and foremost is to get in the mix. Get to semi-finals and finals. It’s a process and we need to improve and get the mindset of the club right.
“We need more of a winning mentality and I feel that is happening.
“I also firmly believe that we can have a strong home advantage and turn Shielfield Park into a real fortress. Our future and potential success, which I’ve said from day one, which come from that.
“It’s onwards and upwards in 2026. We are definitely heading in the right direction.”
