BEN BARKER believes in the Plymouth young stars upsetting the big guns.

The Gladiators stage their opening home BSN Series clash with match and aggregate points available when they host Oxford tonight, live on BSN.

The Gladiators lost out by just two points when the sides met at Cowley recently, whilst the Cheetahs were boosted by their impressive Cab Direct KO Cup turnaround against Glasgow.

The home side are still without the injured Nico Covatti, whilst the visitors name a full-strength line-up.

He said: “You tell me another team that has got between seven and eight points at reserve in averages.

“There are teams that have got a couple of two-pointers at reserve. Yet we have got seven or eight points at reserve.

“Dan and Joe Thompson have ridden in the Championship for two years. Their time is now to step up and kick on.

“That’s what we are about at Plymouth, it’s about entertaining and giving the fans something so they want to tell their friends to come and have a look at this, this is insane.”

PLYMOUTH: Nico Covatti R/R, Alfie Bowtell, Dan Thompson, Kyle Newman, Ben Barker, Joe Thompson, Jacob Hook.

OXFORD: Sam Masters, Henry Atkins, Cameron Heeps, Jordan Jenkins, Scott Nicholls, Ashton Boughen, Luke Killeen.
