BERWICK have snapped up former Grand Prix and World Cup winner Hans Andersen.

The Championship club swooped for the Dane after Thomas Jorgensen suffered season-ending neck and back injuries last weekend.

The Borders’ club also announced that Steve Boxall, initially signed for their National Development League side, will replace broken collarbone victim Jacob Hook.

Bandits boss Scott Courtney said: “It’s a super-tough one really. Everyone is battered, bruised and broken.

“We’ve just got to rebuild and do our best. It’s such a tough one as it’s back to the drawing board in August.

“Our main thoughts are with TJ and making sure he makes a full recovery and hopefully gets back on a bike one day.

“But the reality is we have to weigh up our options to stay competitive.

“As long as the Play-Offs are not mathematically over, we will keep going for them. Now we have a consistent run of fixtures for the first time just as we have an injury crisis.

“The fixture list has been a nightmare to keep some sort of momentum. It’s been frustrating but it is what it is.”

Both new signings, along with fit-again No.1 Rory Schlein, are named in the Berwick side which travels to Scunthorpe on Friday and hosts Poole at Shielfield Park on Saturday.
